This was a recent topic of discussion on the river as we sat under a blanket hatch and could not get a single fish to rise: sometimes fish gorge on nymphs to the point they are too full to eat adult bugs. So we chugged our beers, stowed our dry fly boxes, and started lobbing bobbers. And guess what? Those bobbers started going down faster than a prostitute with a mortgage. We all love the rise to a well-placed dry fly, but in the end all we really want to do is catch fish.
